9 goals scored in 9 minutes for pupil wearing number 9 shirt
A remarkable feat of goalscoring took place for a young footballer whilst representing his school team in the last week of term.
On Friday the football team from Chase View Primary School took part in the Festival of Sport and Enjoyment at Rugeley Leisure Centre along with many other Primary Schools from the area.
Although some of the events had to be cancelled due to the torrential downpours, the majority of the events were able to go ahead and this included the 6 aside football tournament held on the all weather pitches.
With a lot of schools involved, the games in this event were of nine minutes in length meaning not much time for the children to score goals and secure the important points needed, however this was no concern for the Chase View team in their match against Hazel Slade Primary School as they won the game 9 nil.
Whilst scoring nine goals in nine minutes is in itself an excellent achievement what was more remarkable was that all of the goals were scored by the same player, ten year old Reiss Walters who, by coincidence, was wearing the number 9 shirt. Reiss’ goals came in a variety of formats from long range shots to finishing off passing moves from the other members of the team but each was scored with accuracy and skill.
To score 9 goals in a game is an incredible achievement for anyone of any age in any game length but to do so in a 9 minute game and therefore average a goal a minute is something completely unique and unheard of. How many would he have scored if it had been a regular school match of 20 minutes each way? Reiss along with the other members of the school team have had a terrific season and although they were not overall winners on Friday, did really well and look forward to achieving even more next year.
