Birmingham Trad Fest prepares for round two
Following the massive success of its debut festival last November, The Trip To Birmingham Tradfest returns to The Irish Centre’s Leinster Suite on Saturday 16 May for a massive celebration of Irish Music and Dance.
As well as a big programme featuring some of Birmingham and the UK’s best and brightest Irish Music acts, this year’s November festival’s line-up will be announced for the very first time! Put the weekend of 26-29 November in your diaries now!
Headlining the fundraising extravaganza will be Sean Cannon, formerly of the world-famous The Dubliners and now a member of The Dublin Legends.
Fitting a slot in Birmingham into his busy international schedule, Sean will be performing everyone’s favourite Dubliners ballads and songs to which everybody can sing along.
This is a great chance to see a true legend of Irish folk music right here in Birmingham! Hugely talented singer-songwriter Aiden O’Brien will be also performing a combination of Irish favourites and his own material.
Up-and-coming young Birmingham band LAMPA will also be gracing the stage with their infectious brand of contemporary traditional music and song.
They have gained a huge following amongst Birmingham’s young generation and have been a huge hit at festivals across the UK.
Additionally, Boxtrad, a brand new group made up of members of different existing Birmingham bands will be on the bill.
They were recently put together especially for the launch of IrishTV in the city: this will be only their second ever performance!
Adding to this growing list of top acts is the popular country/folk singer Pat Breslin. Not only all of this, well-known Birmingham Irish ceili band Cairde will be putting on a ceili dance to give everyone the chance to get their dancing shoes on and show off their steps!
Complete beginners are strongly encouraged to get involved and join in the fun! That ceili can be a warm-up for all the dancers in attendance, with a DJ close out the night into the small hours!
Saturday 16th May in the Irish Centre Leinster Suite will be one of the biggest and best nights of Irish Music and Dance this year before the upcoming Tradfest in November.
It is packed with loads of top talent and will be a great chance to have a good time and a pint or two. Doors will open at 7.30 pm and tickets will be priced at a very reasonable £5, available on the door. Do not miss out on this – you will regret it if you do!
Details: 16 May, 7.30pm ‘til late in Birmingham Irish Centre, Leinster Suite. Tickets will cost £5 and will be available on the door.
