A Birmingham food trader, who pleaded guilty to eight offences under Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2006, was sentenced at Birmingham Magistrates Court on February 13, 2015.

Andrew Arthur Allen – who runs Andy Allen Foods, based at Unit 38, Mount Street Business Centre, Nechells – was sentenced to one month imprisonment for each offence to be served concurrently, which was suspended for 12 months. He was also ordered to carry out 150 hours’ unpaid work and pay £1,838 in costs.

Birmingham City Council brought a case against Mr Allen, 52, after environmental health officers found the premises to be filthy, including evidence of a mice infestation, during a routine inspection on 23 January 2014.
