Bishop Challoner Catholic College raise £1,200 at Irish Ceili for Lourdes dance
On Friday 21st November the Bishop Challoner Catholic College Lourdes team hosted an Irish Ceili night to raise money towards their Lourdes Pilgrimage2015.
During the autumn term tickets were sold at school and across two local parishes; St Dustan’s and Our Lady of Lourdes. The night was a great success with over 240 people attending. The dance floor was full the whole night with all ages dancing to the uplifting Irish tunes played by Reel Note, the eight piece traditional Irish Band. Many friends and family commented on how fantastic it was to see the different generations of Irish communities enjoying the night together.
In total eighteen raffle prizes were donated from the local Kings Heath community, school families and staff.
“Thank you to all who kindly donated. Including the raffle and the stand-up bingo,” said Miss Caherty, Head of Catholic and Spiritual Life at the College, “We were delighted to raise £1,200.
“A special thank you to the following students whose energy and commitment on the night was inspirational:
Chloe O’Neil (Year 12), Caitlin Culliney (Year 12), Ciara McGrath (Year 12), Belle Hegarty (Year 12), Rosie Treacy (Year 12), Niamh Hughes (year 11), Katie McGowan (year 10), Niamh Collins (year 10), Alfie McMillan (Year 10), and Niamh Holleran (Year 9).”
The Lourdes team will be attending the Archdiocese Pilgrimage to Lourdes from Saturday 23rd May-Saturday 30th May 2015. They are taking seventeen students from Years 9, 10 and Year 12.
