Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice is inviting Birmingham residents to use their knowledge of their neighbourhoods to help recruit volunteers for the Hospice’s biggest mass participation fundraising event this September.

The annual Birmingham Bucket Collection will take place on Friday, 27 September and Saturday, 28 September on high streets and in supermarkets across Birmingham, Sandwell and Solihull.

This year, the Hospice is looking for Volunteer Collection Co-ordinators to help create an army of collectors across the city over the weekend. These could be people with previous collecting experience or just enthusiastic individuals with lots of ideas on how to make the most of their local area in order to raise as much as possible for their local Hospice.

Co-ordinators will help to recruit and manage the hundreds of volunteers who will be joining together for this campaign, which last year raised nearly £9,500.

This money is vital to the work of the Hospice, helping to fund the crucial support it provides to hundreds of patients with terminal illnesses every year.

With the additional aid of the Co-ordinators, fundraiser Ellen Jurczak is confident that the Birmingham Bucket Collection will raise more money than ever this year: “This event is a fantastic way for people from different communities across the city to join together while raising money for their local Hospice and promoting the care it provides in their local community.

“Since we cover such a large section, we are always to some extent reliant on the insight volunteers can give us into their local areas, how they work and the best ways to inspire people from them to get involved with Hospice events, and we think the addition of Collection Co-ordinators will be a huge asset in this area.”
