St Patrick’s Day in Ireland
On St Patrick’s Day, Ireland saw parades, performances and displays all over the country with Dublin ranking as the largest and Cork following thereafter.
The organisers said that the public turnout was in excess of 600,000 at the parade in Dublin alone, with approximately 3,000 people taking part in the actual parade.
Climate change forecasts disaster
The recent publicity in the U.K. regarding global warming includes some serious effects for the Emerald Isle along with the rest of the world.
It is estimated that the rising temperature could leave Ireland experiencing severe droughts in the summer and horrific flooding in the winter months. The predicted climate change would severely impact on the arable land and farming industry that dominates the country.
New Housing Required
Noel Ahern, the Minister for Housing and Urban Renewal revealed that 600,000 new homes need to be built over the next nine years to cope with demand at The National Housing Conference in Dublin last month. He addressed the conference stating that quality; both physical and environmental of the new builds should be high on the list of considerations.
