Mark - Raring To Go!
By Patrick McCool

New manager Mark Pascoe is determined to make a sucess in his position at The Birmingham Irish Club, he maintains its in good hands!

The first thing that strikes you about Mark Pascoe, the new Irish Club Manager in Birmingham is his infectious enthusiasm and passion for life.
I was invited by Mark recently to the club to discuss what makes him tick and his hopes and aspirations for his new position. He certainly has had a wide and varied career path on his way to the Irish Community. Jokingly, I asked him if he knew what he was letting himself in for? He smiled and said “I have worked in many an establishment, from pubs to nightclubs, and I can honestly say I have been touched by the friendliness of Irish people in general coming into the club. I had heard about the Irish being welcoming and friendly but it really has taken my breath away”.
I stress this chap has the best interests of the community at heart, he was panicking that this article would not project him in a good light, well he needn’t have worried. I speak as I find, and Mark is a man on a mission, he talks a good fight and I believe the Irish Community has found a winner! His experience in pubs and clubs over the last nineteen years will be valuable in the coming months and years.

Mark likes to think the beer has improved, but has a pint of the Black stuff just to make sure

One of his best achievements was being general manager and then licensee of Birmingham famous Legs Eleven in the Arcadian Centre. He increased the numbers entering the establishment over the years, thoroughly enjoying the experience. His job prior to moving to the Irish Club was looking after the operations side and front of house hospitality of the UK’s biggest casino at Star City. Different jobs, different environ-ments, and now the challenge of the Birmingham Irish Club. Boy, is he looking forward to that!
Mark is making a couple of important changes after taking over. From mid-September he intends to open the Connaught Suite up for entertainment on Friday nights, a darts evening every Tuesday, and the bar will open on a more regular basis for food on lunchtimes and evenings. and we ain’t seen nothing yet!

Always one to lend a hand, here is Mark giving Mike Clancy a shove at the start of his Tractor trek which took him from Birmingham to Crossmolina for charity, just behind Mark you can see Queenie and Rav who work with Mark at the club

So when you are next in the Club, make a point of asking for this genial young man, Mark Pascoe, if he can help he will!
At the time of going to print Mark and his good lady will be on their honeymoon in Portugal, after getting married on Saturday, 6th August. Congratulations to them both from everybody at The Harp! Mark will be away for two weeks, but when he returns do not hesitate in contacting him if you want to introduce yourself or come along to any of the forthcoming events.
Good luck Mark for the future, to you and your young family, it was a pleasure meeting you!
