Casements
for the final
THE
M. Lambe SCF will see Erin Go Bragh and Sean McDermott’s
replay to their recent match so the winners can face Roger Casements
in the final.
With a score of 1-12 each, both teams played a hard game. The first half was
dominated by Erin Go Bragh and they continued to remain in the lead right up
until 2 minutes before the final whistle. McDermott’s summoned all the
strength of team play they could find and Joey Dowling put the ball in the back
of the net. The final kick taken by McDermott’s Peter Kelly iced the cake
by scoring a point to even the table.
Roger Casements easily beat Naomh Padraig to secure their place in the Senior
Football Championship final. The Leicester team lost to Casements by 3-13 to
0-6 in their first time playing at this level. Micky Bell from the winning team
scored a goal five minutes into the match and the pace remained fast throughout
the game. At half time the score was 1-6 to 0-3. All three Padraig points in
the first half were scored by Anthony Gallagher. The second half saw two Padraig
players were taken off due to injury yet the team managed to limp home scoring
a further 3 points.
