Conor
Richardson and Lewis Concannon are two very inspir-ational fourteen
year old lads from Coventry who have decided to organise a charity
night to raise funds for Myton Hospice. This hospice requires £2,770,860,
of voluntary contributions, each year to stay open.
Both of the boys have seen first hand the amazing care and support
Myton hospice gives to cancer sufferers and their families. Sadly,
not everybody wins his or her battle with this cancer.
Conor and Lewis have both seen the ongoing devastation, sadness and
tragic loss that cancer creates, to families and friends. It is relentless
and lasts a lifetime.
Conor lost a Grandma and his Aunt Bridget to cancer, when he was
very young. Conor’s mother, Fiona lost two very good friends
when he was seven and a few years ago his Uncle Jimmy spent time
at Myton Hospice. Lewis and his family have also experienced the
effects of this cruel disease and have seen the wonderful work that
Myton Hospice provides.
Conor and Lewis are in agreement that these are the reasons why they
have organized this event. The Charity night is taking place on 13th
September at The Lime Tree Working Mans Club, Templar Ave, Tile Hill,
Coventry.
The night is set to be an exciting one with performances by Bob Brolly,
Inspire School of Dancing, male vocalist Neil Richardson and musical
duo, Freedom.
There will also be a raffle, so far they have been lucky enough to
be promised a free session of golf at The Windmill Hotel, a free
golf lesson, a flat screen TV from First Lettings, meals out, free
children’s party, six month membership at The Alan Higgs sports
centre, haircuts and bottles of spirits and wine.
Admission to the event is only £3 and promises to be a fantastic
night of entertainment. As well as the musical acts, Fiona Richardson
is doing a sponsored head shave and a family friend, Roy Hambridge
is doing a sponsored chest wax. Both of these events will take place
on the night.
Conor and Lewis said “We would like to take this opportunity
to thank everybody who has kindly promised to donate prizes, but
also to appeal to people and companies for more items. We hope this
event will be supported by many, in any way possible, no matter how
small, in order to make the night a great success and to raise as
much money as possible to support and assist the running of this
vital institution. So much of this sensitive work that takes place
in hospices does not receive the recognition it deserves, which is
why it is so important that the public endeavors to support these
charities in any way possible. The money we raise on the night will
assist the hospice to continue the caring and invaluable support
they provide to people in their hour of need. Thank you to everybody
who has assisted us so far and to those who hopefully will in the
future”.
