Balsall
Common Ironman, Paddy Doyle is celebrating yet again after smashing
his way into the record books for the 142nd time.
Paddy had to complete more than 390 step-ups on a 15-inch bench whilst
carrying a 56lb back-pack in one hour, in order to claim his latest
endurance record.
In the event he sailed past
his target set by The World
Record Federation in less than 30 minutes.
Just twenty minutes into the gruelling task, which was aired live
on BBC Radio Coventry and Warwickshire's Bob Brolley Show, Paddy
was already well on his way to achieving the record.
The public services tutor at Solihull College cruised past the 300
hundred mark having barely worked up a sweat.
In just over 40 minutes he had achieved his personal target to reach
490, before eventually going on to set the new world record at a
staggering 716 step-ups.
After the event Paddy admitted he had trained with a 90lb weighted
back-pack, possibly the reason why he accomplished his new record
so comfortably.
Paddy, whose family originally hail from Dublin said: "My legs
started to tire after 25 minutes, and injuries to my knee and calf
which I had prior to the attempt made it all the more difficult,
but I gritted my teeth and knew I had to do it.
"The support from my coaching team, students and spectators
really spurred me on and I am thrilled to have added another record
to my collection."
