Counterfeit in Co. Laois
Gardaí have uncovered counterfeit driving licences and €50 notes.
The counterfeits have been described as a high quality production and equipment used to produce the fakes have been seized. It is believed a man was arrested in connection with the haul.
Hospital disappointment
Mary Harney, The Minister for Health was disappointed last month by the results of an independent audit of the hygiene levels in Irelands hospitals.
The audit shown that whilst seven hospitals were rated as good, not one of the country's hospitals achieved a very good standard. Mary Harney said that this information proves that hospitals should be doing better.
Big Car, Big €
The Minister for the Environment, John Gormley has revealed that owners of large engine motor vehicles will face a substantial tax increase over the next coming months.
Drivers of vehicles with engines over 1.6 litres face an increase in car tax that will correlate with emission levels.
