New Motorway Is Finally Confirmed
The Government will reveal today that it has finally given the go ahead for a €1.3bn motorway between Dublin and Waterford stretching 107km.
Transport Minister Martin Cullen is to announce that he has approved the first phase of the Kilcullen to Waterford motorway, the M9/M10.
Councillors at Carlow’s annual monthly meeting were told the green light was on for the project, which will take 24 months to complete and will start in July.
Knock Sees Boom In Tourism
Tourism in the West of Ireland was given a huge boost last year. As passenger numbers at Knock International Airport increased by over 50 pc, a spokesman said
Numbers have more than doubled from 170,000 in 2000 to 373,000 in 2004.
A big reason given for the spectacular increase is down to the fact that the airport is a very good alternative to Dublin for people in Connacht and from surrounding counties like Donegal, Cavan, Longford and West Meath.
