Former British-based retailer opens supermarket in hometown

Joe Dolan RIP
Fans from all over the UK and Ireland paid tribute last month to Joe Dolan who passed away on 26th of December.
The popular 68 year old musical entertainer originally from Mullingar, Co. Westmeath took ill on Christmas night and was admitted to the Mater Private Hospital in Dublin. He passed away peacefully on St Stephen's day surrounded by his family.
The singer cancelled shows in the later part of last year due to ill health and it is thought that he passed away due to a brain hemorrhage.
22 year-old gets life
Keith Nagle, a 22 year-old man from Co. Cork, was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his best friend, Gerard O'Mahony.
The murder, committed on the 21st of April 2006 when Keith and Gerard were drinking together and Keith believed that Gerard was giving him an evil stare. Keith stabbed Gerard ten times in the brutal attack and was described as a walking time bomb by his psychiatrist.
2008 first born
Ireland's first baby of 2008 was at one minute past midnight on 1st January. The baby girl was born in Tralee General Hospital weighing 6lbs 130z.
