Murder hunt
Gardaí in Galway are investigating a murder, which may have taken place up to four years ago.
The body of 52-year-old Patrick McCormack from Artane, Co. Dublin was discovered in a container in a deep freeze at the back of a fish shop. The owner of the shop made the grim discovery last month. McCormack was believed to be a drug dealer and was reported missing in October 2003. A post mortem revealed he died from extensive head injuries, however it is not known how long the body has been in the container in Galway or when he died.
Verdict guilty
The European Court of Justice found the Irish government guilty last month of failing to protect shellfish around the country’s coast.
It was stated that the Irish government had not enough designated protected areas for shellfish to grow nor introduced effective pollution controls.
Fall in Irish abortions
A recent report stated that less and less Irish women are travelling to the UK for abortions in comparison to 6 years ago. It is now being further investigated.
