Local GAA
players become TV Stars
The St. Philip’s Primary School team who recently appeared on BBC Northern Ireland to promote Gaelic Games in Britain

The children of St. Philips and Victoria Park Schools in Smethwick became TV stars for a day when the BBC Northern Ireland turned up to do a feature on Gaelic Games in the midlands.
BBC TV reporter Joe Lynam and his camera crew were treated to a dazzling display of Gaelic football skills from young people from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds. The event was orgainsed by the Warwickshire Schools GAA in a bid to raise the profile of Gaelic games in the midland schools and began with a tour of the GAA facilities at Bishop Challoner School in Kings Heath.
Deputy Lord Mayor Mike Nangle, Warwickshie GAA official Chris O’Brien and former All-Ireland skills winner Becky Daley were all on hand to praise the good work which is being carried out in local schools. The feature is due to be aired on the BBC Northern Ireland news and can be viewed on BBC online in the run up to the Ulster GAA Championship.
