New bridge proposals
A study is being undertaken into researching a cross border bridge proposed to run linking Co. Down and Co. Louth. €400,000 have been pledged into the development plans fo the bridge, which will hopefully boost tourism the local economy and cut the travel times of commuters.
7 years for dangerous driving
21-year-old Daniel John McDonnell was jailed last month after admitting dangerous driving that caused the death of four of his friends. The car hit a tree killing passengers 16-year-old Anita Swift, 17 -year-old Danica O'Rourke, 21-year-old Peter Leonard and 21-year-old Jonathan McDonald.
McDonnell, from Newtownbutler, Co. Fermanagh admitted to being drunk and speeding when he lost control of his vehicle in Lisnaskea in July 2006. He was sentenced to seven years in prison and banned from driving for twelve years.
