Danny
Ryan has launched an appeal for children in Birmingham who have
been born prematurely and for the Cystic Fibrosis Caring Friends
Society based from the Birmingham Children’s Hospital
Danny, who many Harp readers will know has been a major fundraiser
in Birmingham for many years is now £10,000 away from exceeding £1,000,000
for hospitals and charities in the Birmingham area.
Danny decided that he wanted to put his name to these two worthwhile
causes this year because he has friends who have children who were
born with Cystic Fibrosis, which is a genetic condition that affects
childrens lungs as well as a friend who had a child born very premature
I wanted to help the Cystic Fibrosis Caring Friends Society to enable
them to support each other in times of need and despair as well as
raising awareness that there is a group out there that can help people
and share experiences with each other as well as provide much needed
advice and support as well as equipment that children may need.
“I’m planning to raise thousands of pounds for these
two causes this year”, said Danny and I will be calling upon
all my friends as in previous years in pubs and clubs in Birmingham
to get behind me where they see my name, be it on collection bottles
or through various fundraising events that will be going on.
Given that the million is within reach, this appeal is going to be
that bit special and I thank everybody so far for all their support.
One of the pubs currently supporting Danny’s appeal is the
George and Dragon in Coventry Road in Small Heath, Birmingham.
Danny, who called in the other day to collect £400 from a day
of music that was organised by the Licencees, Terri Dennis and Phil
and well known musician Little Jimmy said the day was great and well
organised. I would like to thank Little Jimmy and all the musicians
who gave some of their time on the day as well known regular Mick
Connolly who was a stalwart on the day with his collection bucket.
Look out for future fundraising events in pubs and clubs in Birmingham
that will help Danny’s appeal for children as well as his mission
to not only reach the wonderful million pounds for charity, but to
exceed it. The Harp wishes Danny the very best in the coming months
in his desire to again help people that need it.
Look out for future events in The Harp in the coming months.
