100% Mortgage Demand for House Buyers
The introduction of 100% mortgages to the Irish market has led to a 28% increase in potential first-time home buyers, according to the Irish Mortgage Corporation, Ireland’s leading independent mortgage broker who will this year arrange in excess of €1 billion in mortgages.
However, many hopeful house hunters have found that the strict eligibility criteria mean that they are still unable to get on to the property ladder.
The Irish Mortgage Corporation has reported a massive increase in the numbers attending their free first-time buyers’ seminars since leading banks introduced the new product. “Since the beginning of September, 28% of people attending our first-time buyer seminars said they have entered the search for a property as a direct result of the introduction of 100% mortgages,” said Frank Conway, IMC marketing manager.
“That’s just over one-in-four prospective first-time buyers.”
