MORTGAGE INTEREST RELIEF TO BE SCRAPPED
The Irish Government has been told to scrap mortgage interest relief, and to introduce a wealth tax on second homes by the respected Internation Monetary Fund (IMF).
The advice is contained in the latest IMF public report on the Irish economy, and comes amid growing concern at the continuing property boom in The Republic of Ireland, with price excelerating despite a hugh increase in the number of new homes.
MOVE ON DEAL, URGES ADAMS
The time has come for the Government to ‘call it’ on the current round of negotiations on the resturation of the Northern Institutions, Sinn Fein President, Gerry Adams said recently.
His comments were made at the annual Friend of Sinn Fein Dinner in New York, where he added, “Sinn Fein cannot make a deal on our own, it needs the two Governments and it needs unionist leaders.”
