The Harp Has New Set of Strings
By Enda Mullen

Two new Directors of The Harp, Peter and Maureen Mohan

The Harp, the voice of the Irish community in the Midlands, is now under new ownership.
As of September 6 the paper has been taken over by its editor Patrick McCool and Peter and Maureen Mohan, all of who will be directors in The Harp (Midlands) Ltd.
The Chinn family have sold their interests in the publication and the new owners say the change will pave the way for The Harp to be developed over the months ahead.
Patrick McCool said: “The aim of the new owners is to move the paper on in terms of content and distribution and ensure that the Irish community here in the Midlands has a publication it can be proud of.”
The Harp's new co-owners, Peter and Maureen Mohan, will already be known by many in the Midlands business community.
Peter comes from County Monaghan in the Irish Republic and has a variety of business interests which he runs with Maureen.
The personnel line-up at The Harp will remain unchanged but the paper's headquarters are moving to Glenavon Road, Kings Heath.
Patrick McCool will continue to act as editor as well as serving as one of The Harp’s three directors.
He paid tribute to the role played by the Chinn family in the growth of The Harp over the last four years.
He said: “Buck Chinn and his sons Carl and Daryl worked with me to set the paper up four years ago and I and the new directors would like to thank them for their considerable contribution in making The Harp an established paper both in Birmingham and across the Midlands.”
Patrick says he is keen for any members of the Irish community in the region to contact him with stories they feel should be told.
Anyone who would like to get in touch is asked to call him at the new office on 0121 430 7773 or on 07886 963726.
