AN
IRISH company whose innovative wardrobes regularly feature on top
makeover shows on Irish television has opened its tenth new showroom
on the outskirts of Birmingham.
The Sliderobes showroom at the Fort Industrial Park in Castle Bromwich
was formally opened by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Cllr John Hood.
The Lord Mayor thanked Sliderobes for choosing the city as the location
for its latest venture and wished the company success.
The showroom and workshop is to be run by businessman, Araf Aslam,
who was previously a management accountant in the IT sector, who will
be helped with a team of five.
Sliderobes say their storage solution concept, which was developed
in Ireland 22 years ago, is different to anything else currently available
in mainland Britain.
It has proved a hit in the Irish Republic, where its products feature
regularly on top makeover programmes.
Mr Aslam, who has taken up the franchise for the Birmingham outlet
said: “There are very few houses, new or old, that offer sufficient
storage to the modern household.”
“The Sliderobes concept of designing storage space to use every
single nook and cranny and developed on an individual basis to suit
every single individual customer’s needs is, I believe, unique
in the UK.”
“This achieved through our designer visiting customers’ homes
and helping them to decide exactly what kind of storage they need,” he
added.
“The designer takes all their requirements into consideration
and, using the most modern CAD software, can demonstrate a variety
of different options for layout and finish.”
“The wardrobe is then craftsman-built in our workshops here,
using locally sourced materials combined with German-engineered door
runners. We then fit the Sliderobe in their home, generally within
a fortnight.”
The Sliderobes showroom offers a range of styles, using glass, metal
and wood.

Speedster
Arrested in 270 kph Road Race
An Irishman in a ‘Cannon-ball Run’ road race across
Europe has been caught in Germany.
The Porsche-driving speedster was one of nine men fined in Germany
after they were caught speeding at up to 270kph (170mph).
Although Germany Autobahn’s have no upper speed limit,
there are sections where some restrictions apply – as many
Irish drivers have found to their cost.
Last night, the Germany police named the 26 year old Irishman
as ‘David J....’ but under Germany law would not
give his full family name.
The driver gave an address in West Sussex and was driving a Porsche
911 GT2 when arrested near Nuremberg and fines €1,500.
The car costs around €170,000 new and is one of the fastest
cars on the roads, according to motoring magazines. |

music gets €3million funding
The Arts Council have announce a €3m funding package for the ‘traditional
arts’ aimed at developing traditional Irish music, song, dance and oral
