Sandwell Irish Society is pleased to announce that they have moved to a new address, where they are hoping to create a “Corner of Ireland” that will be a warm and welcoming base for the Irish and wider community as well as for the charity.

After several months of discussions, the Society has taken over management of Kenrick Park Community Street, Glover Street, West Bromwich B70 0RZ and has already held their first Club Eireann Irish language session there.

The venue is about half a mile from the centre of West Bromwich, is situated in a lovely location on the edge of Kenrick Park, the 83 bus stops outside the door and Kenrick Park Metro stop is just one minute’s walk away.

Some local community groups will continue to use the venue and it is hoped that soon more activities will be taking place at the Centre. Plans are afoot to create a suitable office for the Society and some funding has already been secured for this.

Siobhan Gorman, Manager of the Society, said “We are very excited about our new home, which will allow us to expand our services and activities. We look forward to welcoming more people to the venue and to making links with the local community.
