Solihull’s Musician of the Year announced
An eleven-year-old pupil from the Midlands was recently awarded with the special accolade of Solihull’s Musician of the Year 2015.
Megan Doyle, who turned 11 in September, recently won the coveted title of Solihull Musician of the Year 2015.
Megan, a pupil at Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Primary School, Solihull, who is the youngest winner of the title, wowed the judges and the audience with a fantastic vocal rendition of Just You Wait from My Fair Lady. She won against incredible competition from pianists, violinists, flutists and a wide variety of other vocal classes in the competition of over 200 other entries.
The award came shortly before Megan appeared as Young Fiona in West End tour of Shrek at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre and received a glowing review in the Dudley News: “A special mention must be given to Megan Doyle, aged 11, who played Young Fiona. Her vocals were simply stunning for someone so young and she is sure to be a star.”
Megan received her award and a bursary of £250 to further her musical development from the Councillor Kate Wild, the Deputy Mayor of Solihull, and Tim Low, Head of the Solihull Music Service, and the organisers The Solihull Round Table and The Solihull Rotary Club.
Megan is currently preparing for her Grade 6 musical theatre exams.
