It was a sad day recently for members of the Tuesday Club, when Sr. Teresa Moore stepped down from running the event for the last 19 years.

When Sr. Teresa, a former Head Teacher in Corpus Christi Infant School in Stechford, retired from teaching she began working for the Irish In Birmingham organisation and was responsible for coordinating the weekly gathering of the senior Irish community.

The Tuesday Club is a popular event held at the Irish Centre in Digbeth and provides opportunities of networking, luncheons, dances and activities for the older members of the community.

One member told us, “Sr. Teresa and the Tuesday Club has been a lifeline for me, I get out and meet friends and do things I otherwise wouldn’t at home. She is well thought of here and will be sadly missed.”

For more information or to join the Tuesday Club call Irish In Birmingham 0121 604 6111.
