Street collapse on Henley Street in Sparkbrook
Residents and business owners on Henley Street Sparkbrook got a shock on the morning of the 23rd of July when suddenly a huge hole appeared in the middle of the road, quite capable of swallowing a car , the hole is approx ten foot deep.
Paul the landlord of the New Rose Tavern was one of those who quickly averted danger to motorists by cordoning off the street with cones until the emergency services arrived to take charge of the situation.
One theory is that the collapse was caused by the heavy rainfall which caused the sewers to collapse.
Although the closure of the road is already affecting local businesses, they along with the New Rose Tavern are still open for business.
