Students invited to opening of sandwich store
Pupils from Chase View Primary School in Rugeley had the privilege of being the first customers through the door of the newly opened Subway Store in Rugeley following a special invitation from the management of the store.
A group of 12 children from the school, who were made up from the class council representatives from Years 1 to 6, travelled to the store to play an integral role in the opening ceremony last month.
On arrival the group were welcomed in by being allowed to sample the very first cookies and drinks to be served at the new look store – the verdict- delicious. They were then given a talk and tour by regional manager Jackie Dillon and store manager Claire Roach. The children learned about the different roles people have in a store, were introduced to the whole of the new team of employees at the shop, learned about the range of healthy foods and drinks on sale and were told about the history and founder of the Subway group and it’s network of stores.
The most important part of the morning then involved the official opening of the store and the children joined Claire, Jackie and regional director Ali Nixon to cut the ribbon, green in colour of course, to declare the store officially open.
From the moment the ribbon was cut there was a steady stream of customers arriving through the doors, however the first 12 customers to make their selection from the breads, fillings and salads on offer were all wearing the distinctive purple sweatshirts of Chase View. The pupils had a choice of any sandwich from the menu, with several of them trying certain fillings for the very first time and all agreed they were mouth watering. They also all received a small gift from the store.
The visit to the store marked the beginning of several links between the school and Subway Rugeley. Year 5 pupils have designed adverts, some of which will be displayed in store, children will be involved in a competition to create a new sandwich which they will get the chance to make in store and which may be included on the menu and in the near future the school football team will be wearing Subway branded kit courtesy of the store, which promotes the links of healthy food leading to a healthy lifestyle.
The 12 children who represented Chase View were wonderful ambassadors and special thanks goes to Jackie Dillon who made the whole thing possible.
