TR Dallas releases new single to celebrate 35 years
Legendary Irish Country Singer TR Dallas (Tom Allen) releases his new single ‘Happiness’ to celebrate 35 years as one of Ireland’s most successful artists.
Written by Mike Fallon (uncle of singer Mike Denver), and recorded at Roseland Studios in Moate, Co Westmeath, ‘Happiness’ is an uptempo jive number that is sure to be warmly received by both radio and dancers up and down the country. It is also on the ‘Be My Guest’ CD.
TR Dallas, from Moate, Co.Westmeath, has had a very successful career to date – performing with some of the biggest legends in Country Music. TR Dallas originally burst on to the Irish Music Scene in May 1980 on the ‘Late Late Show’ – performing his hugely successful single ‘Who Shot JR Ewing’. At the time the ABC TV series ‘Dallas’ had finished the season with JR Ewing (Larry Hagman) lying shot on the floor. His subsequent album ‘ Hard To Be Humble’ released in Nov 1980 was Ireland’s best selling country album of the year.
TR’s brother is Tony Allen from ‘Foster & Allen’. TR toured twice with Johnny Cash – the 2nd time Johnny & June asked for him personally to tour with them as they admired him so much. He also performed at the prestigious ‘Wembley Country Music Festival’ alongside George Jones and Tammy Wynette. George Jones asked TR if he could borrow TR’s steel guitar player for his own performance – and of course TR agreed.
He has performed at The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and has picked up a multitude of awards over the years, and his songs have received over one million hits on YouTube.
He has also been involved for over 40 years with Broadcaster Jimmy Magee’s ‘AllStars’ who have raised millions of Euro for Irish Charities.
Celebrations will continue at ‘The Well’ in Moate, Co Westmeath on Friday 8th May when TR will be joined on stage by members of the original ‘TR Dallas Band’, Foster & Allen, Trionagh Moore, Hugo Duncan, Bob Brolly (BBC), Trudi Lawlor, Gene Stuart, Aidan Quinn & Band and other special guests.
