A Sutton Coldfield youngster got to share in special celebrations at a local restaurant to mark her first birthday.

Italian restaurant Pesto on Hollyfield Road South celebrated its first birthday with a special morning cake and coffee event in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The restaurant gave away complimentary sweet treats and hot drinks at the special event to all guests in return for donations to the cancer support charity.

And Pesto was not the only one celebrating a first birthday at the event.

Little Rosie Brennan from Sutton Coldfield was one of the youngest guests at the event turning one year old the same week.

General manager Russell Bennett said: “This was a special celebration of our achievements over the past year and we’re so pleased that so many customers and members of the local community turned up to celebrate our birthday with us.”

Guests enjoyed homemade cakes made by the Pesto team as well as a very specially designed birthday cake made by local cake shop, the Cherry Blossom Bakehouse.

Eloise Davidson, Sutton Coldfield fundraising manager for Macmillan Cancer Support, also attended the event which saw donations during the morning reach over £80.

She said: “The Pesto team have worked very hard to raise much-needed funds over the past year so we’re delighted to mark our partnership with them at this event and look forward to working together to raise even more for over the year to come.”
